Working Out Should Be Fun!

WOW!!! What a great year it has been for me so far!!! No I did not win the Lotto even though that would have definitely kicked this year up a notch or two but what I did do is get back into working out. What a great feeling it has been getting back into it. I know everybody gets on the whole get it right get it tight train at the beginning of the year but do you actually stay on it????? Most people do not. Well, I think I found a way to stay on the fit train. Some people just love working out because they are workout junkies but most look at it as a chore, which makes it harder to stick to. So what if you were able to find a different way to look at working out. I did!!!

I decided to start doing things that keep me active that I actually like to do. Forget the gym and all the machines. Just go outside!!! You do not even have to pay for that. In this day and age we have become so inundated with technology that we have forgotten how much fun it can be to just go outside. You can run, walk, ride a bike, rollerblade, jump rope, etc. Take it back to your younger years and bring that inner kid out of you. Find what motivates you the most and make it fun! You can even switch it up like I do. I switch it up everyday between running, walking, rollerblading, jumping rope and kayaking. All things that I love doing which also happens to keep me active which means I am getting fit. I do not even look at what I am doing as working out anymore.

I run 3 times a week now. I never really liked running but once I started running at the beach that changed things for me. Just by changing my surroundings, it made it so much easier for me to run. So what I am really saying is find things that motivate you. If you really are not an active person who is into any of the activities I named in this article there are still other things that you can do. Like the beach for instance, if you like the beach go walk on it. You really can’t beat the view. If not the beach, try a park near you.

Another way to get motivated is to buddy up. Go with a family member or friend. You can motivate each other. I find that I push myself harder in my workouts when I have a buddy. I also like joining different sports leagues. Pick a sport league that you like. There are so many out there. I love kick ball so I have joined a kick ball league. Yes I said kick ball! That game that was played during recess back in the day. I don’t know one person who doesn’t love kick ball. If you happen to be one of the few who don’t, then pick a sport and start your own league.

There are a variety of different things that we can do to stay active and it is really important that we do. I found it hard to go to a gym and work on the same machines. It became very monotonous to me. Not everyone can really afford to go to the gym either. So now that I have found what works for me I wanted to share and I hope that this helps to motivate at least one person. I now look forward to working out because I don’t even look at it as working out. I am having fun and staying fit all at the same time. Find your motivation and tell me what it is.
